Why I’m a feminist

  • I believe in equality: there’s one principle at the heart of feminism—equal rights and opportunities for everyone, regardless of gender. I refuse to accept a world where gender determines someone’s value or opportunities.

  • I support those who came before me: throughout history, women have been denied their basic rights—education, voting, property ownership, and bodily autonomy. I’m compelled to continue the fight started by our mothers to preserve the rights of our daughters now and forever.

  • I know patriarchy harms everyone: men, women, and non-binary people are all harmed by the rigid enforcement of roles and stereotypes. Feminism provides a way for everyone to live authentically.

  • I acknowledge how much representation matters: women and minorities are underrepresented in media, politics, and leadership. This perpetuates inequality. I want to help amplify a diverse range of voices and see all genders represented in society.

  • Only I control what happens to my body: bodily autonomy is non-negotiable. I will continue to fight for reproductive rights and freedom from gender-based violence.
